Mays Gilliam (Rock) is a nobody minor politician from a run down Washington DC neighbourhood. In a bout of political rigging he is plucked from nowhere to run for President, on the assumption that he will lose heavily. Mays knows he hasn't a hope and so decides to enjoy his campaign. Drafting in his brother, Mitch (Mac) as a running mate the two stir things up in their own fashion and suddenly start to make headway with only weeks left.
