A puppy eventually realises that he was a man once, and has come back as a dog. Businessman Tom (Modine) is convinced that he was killed by his former partner Jeff (Stoltz) who seems to be comforting the widow (Travis) just a little bit too much. His plan is to become part of the family and try and uncover the events of his former life, but memories can be deceiving..
Based on the popular book of the same name. The film does not convey the same emotional content as the book and has taken more of a thriller stance than dramatic. Plenty of doggie shots by director Carlei and doggie pov too. Travis seems to be a little too saintly as wife and mother, but Stoltz gets the right amount of ambiguity into his character.
